We ran a couple of contests in April and now that the month is over, let’s take a look at the results and choose some winners!
For reference, the Cubs scored 82 runs in 23 April contests for a 3.57 runs/game average. Cubs legend Tony Campana was unable to hit one out of the park but did steal a ton of bases.
Let’s do the easy contest first. This was for Shawn Cusack’s extra Billy Williams bobblehead doll. The first run was scored by Ian Stewart on a Marlon Byrd (since traded) single with two outs. Byrd got the RBI. The closest guess to the actual 82 runs scored was from Ray Silva, who guessed 81 and apparently used to play baseball because the B-R Linker recognized him. Well played, sir! We will have Shawn carefully wrap and send the bobblehead to you. Please provide your address to the WSD staff via our contact form (scroll up and click the “Contact Us” button) and it will be delivered to you within a couple weeks. Since you’re getting this for free, and Shawn’s in charge of packaging, if it’s broken in transit, please feel free to yell at the US Postal Service, UPS, or drive up to Shawn’s house and kick his ass for not packaging it right. Just kidding about that last part, sort of, but we’re confident in Shawn’s packaging abilities.
The other contest we did with Tony Campana is a bit tougher because it was basically a leap of faith if you thought he could show a surprise burst of power, and a raffle otherwise. Unfortunately for all of you who worship at the Church of Speedy, Tony couldn’t drive one over the wall. Heck, he wasn’t even called up until about a week ago. Anyway, we have to find a fair way to set up a raffle, so here’s what I did…
I noted all the entries that said “0 in April” or some such. I kept those entries in the order they were posted, with each being assigned a number from 1 to 17. I then used a custom number generator I found online to choose a number between 1 and 17, inclusive. I clicked the button once and got the number 11, which means our winner is “Amycubs7″. Please check our store (scroll up, click the “WSD Store” button) and find the design you like plus whether you want a T-shirt or a hat, and the size you desire. It will help if you use the contact form (right next to the “WSD Store” button) and after finding the item you like, copy and paste the URL into the message along with your name and address so we can send you your prize.
Thanks for playing, folks, and keep an eye out for a month of May contest!
