….Nobody! Everybody? By the writers not voting anyone into the MLB Hall of Fame with such a strong ballot this year, I think it speaks volumes. They “suspects” will be back on the list next year, so the debate will go on another year. Craig Biggio had the highest number of votes, yet was still not inducted, which doesn’t surprise nor upset me. If Sandberg wasn’t a first rounder, I don’t think Biggio should’ve been either. With both Bonds and Clemens receiving over 30% of votes, will that mean eventually they will be let in? I wonder how those induction speeches will go….
Looking ahead to 2014, we will see names such as Tom Glavine, Jeff Kent, Greg Maddux, Mike Mussina, and Frank Thomas as first round candidates. We could see no inductees to over three next year (I see Maddux, Glavine and Thomas all getting in for sure, perhaps Mussina). But as for 2013, the Cooperstown annual induction ceremonial weekend, it’s going to be a quiet one. Can you hear the crickets now?
