Cats, laser beams, and Tony Campana

I was just playing in my son’s room.  He got a new cat.  The cat is kind of finicky and nervous, but she’s getting more comfortable and is wanting to play more.  Naturally we decided to bust out the laser pointer.  Now the cat is hell bent on trying to get the little red dot.  I forgot if cats are color-blind like dogs, or not.  But she is really really trying hard to get that stupid dot.  I’ve waved it all over walls and drawers and the carpet and she just keeps following it.

That kind of reminds me of Tony Campana‘s fielding ability.  For the most part Tony has a lot of range and speed, but sometimes he just wants the ball a little too much.  He doesn’t think about whether he’s actually going to make the catch.  Sometimes he gets there with a dive, but other times he turns a not-so-bad situation into a fail because he misses the ball by several feet with a very ill-advised dive.  The baseball is the laser dot, and Tony Campana is an uppity cat.

And that is your World Series Dreaming thought of the night.
