The Great Jeff Samardzija Contract Extension That Wasn’t

Share Button

As in our last article, we learned that Jeff Samardzija turned down a five-year contract extension of unknown dollars this offseason in favor of going year-to-year in arbitration…for now.  We’ve written before about how an extension probably isn’t the best idea from the Cubs’ standpoint unless they can get Samardzija on the cheap.  Here, it seems like Samardzija realizes it and has decided to harness his strong potential in order to score a bigger payday down the line.  We will be discussing that tonight in our next Dreamcast, scheduled to be posted sometime tomorrow.  You can check out the first one here.  By the way, did we mention that we’re now on iTunes?

Stay tuned for new developments!
