Taking the mound will be Matt Garza, who will be making his first start of the season, after not pitching in a major league game for almost a year. Taking the mound for the Pirates will be Wandy Rodriguez, who has a record of 4-2 with a 3.25 ERA.
Wednesday’s game will see the first pitch thrown at 6:05 p.m. CST, broadcast on WGN, with the Cubs trotting out Jeff Samardzija, who has a record of 2-5 and an ERA of 3.49 ERA. The Cubs will be facing Francisco Liriano, who has a record of 2-0 to go with his 1.64 ERA
Thursday’s game will be an early getaway game starting at 11:35 a.m. CST and broadcast on CSN. Starting for the Cubs will be Edwin Jackson, who has a record of 1-6 and an ERA of 5.76. The Pirates will have Jeanmar Gómez on the bump, he has a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 2.78.
This will not be an easy series, as the Pirates have been playing well this year, while the Cubs have been struggling.
