Goodnight, Sweet Prince

The sad news about a former Cubs legend:

Ryan Theriot ends his career with a line of .281/.341/.350 and amassed a total of 6.4 rWAR in his eight seasons of work.  He ended his career on top, in a way, with two straight World Series championships as a backup for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011 and as the designated hitter (HAAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHA) in the clincher for the San Francisco Giants, scoring the Series-winning run.  Because of course.

His legend will live on as the inspiration for the TOOTBLAN acronym because of his awesome prowess on the basepaths.  And with a nickname like “The Riot,” no wonder the ladies and frat boys all wanted his shirsey.

Best of luck to you, Ryan Theriot.
