“People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for Spring.” –Rogers Hornsby

This is the time when I really start to miss baseball and the weather in Chicago doesn’t really help because Winter is rough here. Anyway, I’m here to share with you my thoughts on Clark the Bear. Just kidding, I won’t do that to you. I think we’ve talked about him far more than we should have. I’m here just to say hi and talk about a few things because I’ve missed baseball, I’ve missed talking about baseball and I’ve also missed you guys.

So, the Cubs Convention started today, are any of you attending? I am not going to be there this year and not because I didn’t want to but because I didn’t have anyone to go with. The people that I usually go with were unable to go and upon going through my list of friends I realized that I need new ones. Why? Because a lot of them don’t like baseball! So that brings me to the question, why aren’t there more women that like baseball? I was the only woman that was part of World Series Dreaming until two more ladies joined recently. It is just very weird to me how more women don’t like baseball, and I wonder why that is. Those of us that do like it seem to have the same story of being very close to our Fathers who were very close to baseball. Most of the time I think there is something wrong with me because I’m so obsessed with it, but maybe there is something wrong with them? I don’t know, maybe it’s just how we’re raised. I care more about baseball than shopping, shoes and husband hunting. Like Alyssa Milano said in her book Safe at Home, Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic: “Other women dream of papaya facials and mango pedicures. Give me a hot dog, a pitchers’ duel and a late-inning suicide squeeze, and I melt like hot pine tar.” Yep, she gets me. I know that if I convince my friends to go to a game with me, they might just fall in love like I did. I’ll keep working on it and let you guys know what happens.

I also, wanted to let you guys know that I will be counting down the “20 Hottest Baseball Players” starting on January 25th. leading up to February 13th. when Pitchers and Catchers report. So stay tuned for that which will be something fun that will make the time go by a lot faster…at least I’m hoping it will. Again, this was just a little random blog, nothing special, but make sure you come back on the 25th. so you can see who I think are the hottest players and if you agree with me. Until next time!
