We continue our countdown of the 20 Hottest MLB players today. Here is today’s pick:
#13 – Jose Fernandez
Born: July 31, 1992 (21)
Birthplace: Santa Clara, Cuba
Bats: Right Throws: Right
MLB Debut: April 7, 2013 (Marlins)
At only 21 years old, Jose Fernandez has already begun to make a name for himself. I feel kind of weird writing about how hot he is because he’s so young, but hey, somebody has to do it. He broke out into the bigs last season and he surprised everyone with his amazing year. He showed how good he can be but can he become an elite pitcher and hang with the big guys? During his 2013 campaign, he dominated his way to an All Star appearance, National League Rookie of the Year, and came in 3rd for Cy Young Award honors to top it all off. To say the least, Fernandez had himself a stellar rookie season. This year could be a trying one for Fernandez. The so called sophomore slump could be looming ahead, plus pitchers tend to be fickle players and far too often injuries derail prolific talent, I’m hoping Fernandez is not the case. He’s one of the players that I’m most excited about and I’ll be watching him closely this year. I’m hoping he has a solid season because it’s kind of unfair to expect another one like his 2013 campaign. With good looks and a great curveball to match, Fernandez certainly has the stuff to continue being a compelling pitcher.
