We continue our countdown of the 20 Hottest MLB players today. Here is today’s pick:
#9 – Anthony Rizzo
Born : August 8, 1989
Birthplace: Fort Lauderdale, FL
Bats: Left Throws: Left
MLB Debut: June 9, 2011 (Padres)
With all the recent talk about the up-and-comers on the Cubs farm system, it seems we have some what forgot about the super star in the making already playing here. Jed Hoyer has been taking Rizzo wherever he goes and there is a good reason for that. He played his first full season as a starting first baseman last year and his mechanical issues were a huge factor in his lack of performance, as he hit .233 with 23 HRs and 80 RBIs. One thing Rizzo has been consistently solid in is defense. This cutie has the stretch, agility, and moves to play amazing defense. Rizzo just has to work some things out in order to become the dominant star at first base that the Cubs know he can be. On May 12, 2013 Rizzo agreed to a 7 year, $41 million deal. The deal includes two club options that could make the contract 9 years, $73 million.
Batting Average: .238
Home Runs: 39
San Diego Padres (2011)
Chicago Cubs (2012–present)
Thanks for reading and come back tomorrow to see who made the cut for #8.
