Dreamcast 40: Take Me Out To the Ball Game

With Opening Day right around the corner, we dedicate our Opening Day podcast to one of the most famous Cubs to ever don #40 on his uniform, Rick Sutcliffe!

In this episode, we discussed the possibility of Jeff Samardzija repeating his Opening Day performance from last season.  Samardzija needs to maintain consistency throughout the season so he can either be paid as the ace he thinks he is, or be traded for more prospects that can help the Cubs future outlook.

We also discussed the possible lineups for Opening Day against Pirates starter Francisco Liriano.  With the versatility in the outfield, the Cubs might be able to optimize their lineups even with a corps of backup outfielders at best.

UPDATE OPENING DAY: Hey, we were close.  Justin Ruggiano‘s ankle might still be bugging him but it does make sense to keep at least one righty on the bench for the later innings.

We also learned today that the Cubs made final roster moves, including putting Kyuji Fujikawa on the 15-day disabled list, which may or may not be a sign of his rehab progress.
