In Tuesday night’s victory over the Cincinnati Reds, Cubs manager Rick Renteria called for not one, not two, not three, but FOUR relievers to get three outs in the top of the eighth inning. Shades of Tony LaRussa! Fortunately it worked out as the four relievers combined for three outs (Wesley Wright wasn’t able to LOOG) and kept the Reds from scoring that inning. It also meant that Neil Ramirez had to face Joey Votto, but Joey Votto doesn’t care what hand you throw with anyway.
It also gave us this great picture from Jonathan Daniel of Getty Images:
Check out Beef Castle with the “Are you fucking serious” glare at Ricky. pic.twitter.com/VcHlGDU8jG

The death stare by Welington Castillo is partially obscured by his mask, but it’s pretty great. You can also see Mike Olt with his hands on his hips like “O RLY” but hey, Mike can’t talk because he struck out three times. He did make a nice play though in the inning to keep the game from getting to Joey Votto with the bases loaded, so good on you, Mike.
So now let’s have our own fun with this foray into micromanaging. Below we have the picture now equipped with appropriate thought and dialogue bubbles. What is Beef Castle thinking? What is Rick Renteria saying? Is it charades? Is he pointing out a goofy fan in the stands? You decide!

Have fun, kids!
