Wada Being Called Up Soon?

While nothing is confirmed at all, according to Tommy Birch (Iowa Cubs beat writer) Tsuyoshi Wada is a healthy scratch for the I-Cubs.

There is no words as to why he was scratched, but connecting the dots, he might get called up to the Chicago Cubs active roster.

In order to do that, the Cubs will need to clear a spot on the roster. The two most likely candidates would be Travis Wood and Edwin Jackson getting designated for assignment.

I am not sure if he would be better suited out of the bullpen in long relief, or another five inning starter.
At the moment though, he is still in Iowa. I-Cubs manager Marty Pevey says Wada will next pitch on Thursday (which would line up with Wood’s next start), but he has no idea where that will be. He is currently throwing in the I-Cubs bullpen, perhaps to keep his arm fresh and on normal rest.

A move with Wada is not a surprise since his rehab time is just about up. He could be traded, released or called up. No word at this present moment. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Wada will start for the Iowa Cubs on Thursday. He is not injured, just pushed back a pair of days. Still interesting to note that he and Wood are lined up now in terms of rotation order. If Wood does not improve in his next start, I can see Wada taking his place in the Cubs rotation.
