Have yourself a second half, why don’t you Jeffrey?

Jeffrey Baez of the South Bend Cubs has been on quite a tear lately. Possessor of one of the all-time best middle names (Nazareth), the 21 year old from El Tigre, Venezuela was recently named Cubs’ Minor League Player of the Month for July.

That award came right after he was named Player of the Week on July 20, 2015.

Baez, no relation to Javy, was signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in July of 2010 and divided his time last year between Boise and Kane County. Thus far this season, he leads the team with 7 home runs, 23 stolen bases and tops the (current) roster with .409 slugging percentage.

Since July 10th, he is batting .431 with 44 hits, 5 homers and 10 stolen bases.

Also he’s made some nice defensive plays in the field like this:

Baez’s latest exploits have not gone unnoticed. He has been covered on this blog and has gotten props from lots of people.

Currently the South Bend Cubs are 20-21 in the second half, four back of the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Here are a few more Jeffrey Baez highlights for your viewing pleasure.
