Cubs Get Bit Hard By Injury

The Chicago Cubs today announced that both Jason Motte and Jorge Soler would be missing time due to injury today.

The time frame for Soler is not good, he is expected to miss a month, perhaps the rest of the season if things don’t go perfectly for him. While the length Motte might miss is not known, I cannot believe that he will be back quickly either.

Add in that Addison Russell left last night with a groin injury which will keep him out for at least a game or two, the Cubs are in some trouble. Reinforcements are on the way, but will not be able to provide the same impact that either Soler or Motte provided.

Tommy La Stella and Zach Rosscup will be leaned on heavily down the stretch, as will Starlin Castro.

The news of these injuries come at the worst possible time, even through there is no real good time to lose any player for a significant amount of time let alone two, maybe three.

Today the Cubs play a make up game with the Cleveland Indians and then begin a west coast swing against the San Fransisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.

You might want to fasten your seat belts, these last 40 games might be a bumpy ride.
