Jake Arrieta finally gets his no-hitter

On a night when the Chicago Cubs offense couldn’t muster much more than an early Kris Bryant homer, our heroes were looking for a stop to a miniature skid.  Wouldn’t you know it, Jake Arrieta‘s turn in the rotation came up and he was the stopper.  Sure, Bryant had the homer and Starlin Castro had three hits, but…

There aren’t enough words to describe how necessary that performance was.  Jake Arrieta, with a little help from his friends, saved the bullpen before they head home to Wrigley Field.  He was never in any real trouble.  He was spectacular.  Heck, he even got a hit.

We should all celebrate tonight, and go to sleep happy.

All those Cubs fans are happy. How can you not be? The Cubs are good. And they should probably figure out how to keep this guy for years to come…

  1. We got on base a lot but, unlike our winning streak we couldn’t get that hit to plate them. But it’s an improvement over the rest of this road trip.
