Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Today is a day to be thankful for what you have, and I could not be more thankful to have each and every one of you as a part of my Chicago Cubs family. You stuck with us through the lean years when the Cubs were tanking, we commiserated when they lost and celebrated when they won.

I am thankful for Tom Ricketts who bought this team from the Tribune Company and gave us fans hope. I am thankful for Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod who came up with the plan to bring the Cubs their Championship. While the plan has not come to full realization we all saw the fruits of their labor this past year.

I am thankful to have the reigning National League Manager of the Year, Joe Maddon leading this team. I have always been of the belief that the manager of a team is not all that important, worth maybe five wins a year at most, that everything depended on the players. But watching how Maddon brought this team together, watching him maneuver showed me how wrong I was. He is why this team was as successful as they were. While the players were amazing, I am not sure they would have reached the level they did under someone else’s lead.

I am thankful for the reigning National League Cy Young Jake Arrieta, a pitcher Epstein stole from the Baltimore Orioles with a mask. He had a historic second half of the season and is one of the main reasons the Cubs won the second Wild Card. No matter what paychecks say, he was the true ace of th pitching staff last year. I cannot wait to see what he can do next season.

I am thankful for the reigning National League Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant, a prize that made those losing seasons worthwhile. When he was drafted, we had such high hopes for him, and he did not let us down. He is still very young, and he got better and better as the year went on. He will continue to get even better, and that is scary; for other teams.

I am thankful for Jon Lester, Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber, Addison Russell, Jorge Soler, Miguel Montero, David Ross, Kyle Hendricks, Jason Hammel and so many more (I cannot list everyone) for this past season.

Lastly, but far from least, I want to say thank you to everyone who has worked on this blog over the years. Rice, Andy, Maria, Heather, Rich, Mo, Sharon, Drew, Dabs, Jesse, Josh, Matt, Robb, Kevin, Jackson, Daniel, Kris, Adam and our tech guy Andre. You all helped make World Series Dreaming everything that the page is. Whether you posted one blog or several more, you gave life to this website. For that, I am thankful.

Today, when you eat your Thanksgiving feast, remember to be thankful for what you have. Friends, family, a roof over your head….. the Cubs.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
