Not For Lack of Effort!

Some highlights from today’s practice game loss as I listened to most of the game on the radio…

First, some praise for Kyle Schwarber, who had a couple hits including this magic gift:

He also got a gift of a stolen base. As said on Facebook (and you should follow us there!):

The Kyle Schwarber game: gets broken-bat single that should’ve been an out, now gift SB that should’ve been an out. Rangers probably cursing him. #Cubs

It’s fun to get a bit of luck on your side, even if it’s just a practice game. And even though players are wont to take it easy before the regular season, the effort was there all day long:

This was ironically after Mick Gillespie read a bad tweet on air about Jorge Soler being lazy or some crap. I try to block those out. Kyle Hendricks pitched reasonably well, but with the lineup full of guys fighting for the last spot or for Iowa Cubs depth, whatcha gonna do? I liked what I heard and the ultimate game result doesn’t matter much.
