As the clock winds ever closer to first pitch, have you picked your favorite Chicago Cubs yet? Well, we have a suggestion, as does MLB…

Of course, you’re not restricted to just rooting for Javier Baez, though you would be reminded that he featured prominently in the regular season and in the NLDS. It’s been fun to see all the creative mashups from Cubs fans as the team has continued its assault on the rest of the majors and on narratives alike. With three wins down, the Cubs now reset their roster to snag another four victories before the final four that matter. They will again be choosing from the pool that I postulated before the postseason, but this time against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have issues against left-handed pitching. The time has come to see who plays for the pennant.
We already know the starting rotation, which is the same as before:
Lester Game 1 starter, all signs point to Hendricks for Game 2 but nothing official. Zastryzny in mix if Cubs opt for 12 pitchers

Hendricks game 2, Arrieta, Lackey

The only sticking point would have been whether the Cubs would snag another lefty like Rob Zastryzny to match up against the Dodgers’ bats, or swap out a bubble position player. Turns out that Tommy La Stella became the odd man out…
Rob Zastryzny is on the NLCS roster. Tommy La Stella is off.

The Cubs will announce this officially soon, but there you go. And now, we wait.
