Summer Solstice-ish Cubs Highlight Reel

Yeah, we’re a couple days after the actual solstice.  But it was a nice day, school is out, there’s a lull in the job hunt, and the Chicago Cubs activated beatdown mode, so here ya go.

First of all, welcome to the big leagues, Mark Zagunis:

I think having an extra pitcher is temporary; they’ll try to work in Ben Zobrist or another position player soon.

After Jake Arrieta‘s infield single to open the scoring, the newest Cub got his first RBI and first stolen base.  Later on, Kris Bryant whipped out the boomstick:

Addison Russell and Willson Contreras would later add bombs of their own to increase the Cubs’ tally.  Contreras also had a nice throw to erase a would-be base stealer at third base.  You can check out the highlight reel at the link in the tweet:

Ian Happ, in addition to his four hits, had himself a stolen base, upon further review:

It’s been a while since we’ve had an easy victory for the Cubs, a combination of good hitting, good pitching, and good defense, so let’s enjoy it while we can.  I’m sure we’ll see more, though.
